🐶 Puppy Play Explained

Puppy play is an energetic, loyal, joyful pet-play persona. What pup headspace feels like, the gear, pup vs handler, and how to fetch your first scene.

Updated July 5, 2026

Puppy play is pet play at its most joyful — loyal, bouncy, eager to please. Where a kitten is aloof, a pup is all wagging enthusiasm.

Pup headspace

“Pupspace” is a wonderfully freeing, simple, present state — playing, fetching, flopping over for belly rubs, living in the moment. Many describe it as pure stress relief.

Pup & handler

A handler guides, trains, praises and disciplines the pup. Gear ranges from a simple collar to hoods, mitts and tails, but none of it is required to start.

Fetch your first scene

Pick a pup name, drop into play (no talking — pups bark and whine), agree a non-verbal safe-signal, and enjoy the freedom. It overlaps with primal play.
